It is impossible to visit each other these days. Life during lockdown… How can you discuss an innovative project for sustainable CO2-neutral coffee cultivation with partners and ministers from India during times like these? The TU Delft consulted us to find a solution for them. Together with experts from Computrain, we made sure that the about 75 participants could catch up with each other during a 4-day long webinar that had the look of a professional tv show.
The plan was that a couple of people involved in the ‘Climate Technologies for Kerala’s Carbon Neutral Wayanad Action Plan’ would travel from India to the TU Delft for a one-day long intensive seminar. When the lockdown cancelled those plans, we changed the seminar into an appealing online event. We started by spreading the program over 4 days. The reason for it being that you can keep the participants’ attention for a shorter amount of time compared to at an offline event. First a plenary day, then 3 days filled with a workshop, and at the end a meeting with everyone. Together with the studio of TU Delft and technology of Computrain we made sure there was a live connection between Delft and India. We also took care of all visual aspects and the direction. Bumpers to introduce speakers. Backgrounds for those speakers. Presentations, programs, videos, you name it. Everything got the same recognisable look and feel. This way the participants felt like they were watching a professional (and interactive!) tv program.
Afterwards, our contact person at TU Delft told us: “Due to the live stream, direction, good looking transitions, the right lighting and professional studios we were able to boost this meeting. Therefore, this online event is the launch of future sessions, in which we maintain the current style and build a web platform to monitor the progress of the project.
Online or ‘hybrid’ events are an excellent alternative for a live meeting when following the laws of online communication. The principles of a live event differ a lot from their online counterpart. We would be keen to help you with turning your event into an online one. You can leave both the strategy as well as the execution to us.
